One of the stars of MTV’s 'The City' has claimed that the show is completely fake and is just a business opportunity for the people involved.
Olivia Palermo is a New York socialite who says that she has been set up to be the villain on the show. Co-star Whitney Port has previously claimed that Palermo is "accurately portrayed" on the show.
In an interview with Tatler magazine, Palermo said "It is absolutely not reality" adding "This is a business decision. I can learn from it. It adds entertainment value. I know my focus."
The 24-year-old continued "I have a long-term plan, so I don't get stuck in the moment. I want to act, model, try it all. Designing a collection will come in time."
Adam DiVello, the creator of 'The City' as well as 'The Hills' recently rejected claims that the castmembers are told what to say. In the Wall Street Journal’ he said "When we go into these shows, I explain to the cast, 'We are going to follow you around. We are going to make a drama out of your everyday existence'."
He said "There is editing involved. There is music involved. We're using a fraction of what they do in their day-to-day lives to tell a story."
