Susan Boyle - rights issue led to non-performance

A representative for singer/songwriter Lou Reed is reported to have denied claims that permission was denied for Susan Boyle to sing his song 'Perfect Day' on 'America’s Got Talent'.

A recent report on TMZ claimed that the 'Britain’s Got Talent' singing sensation was upset and walked off the set of the US version of the talent show after she was informed that she was not allowed to sing the song.

Reed’s spokesperson told 'Access Hollywood' that the reason the song was not performed was not due to Reed. He said the song had been cleared for use in the UK but not the US.

Meanwhile a statement from Boyle’s camp said the singer was "very disappointed" not to be able to sing the song. It read "Susan was due to perform a chosen song from her new album The Gift... It is with real disappointment and regret that she has been unable to do so due to unforeseen circumstances relating to the song.

"Susan is very disappointed as she had been looking forward to it immensely. She is now on a plane heading back to London with a heavy heart. Susan really looks forward to being able to perform her new songs very soon."
