Douglas optimistic over cancer battle

Actor Michael Douglas has said that is optimistic that he can survive throat cancer.

The actor was speaking at press conference for his latest movie 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps'. He is currently in the middle of treatment for the cancer which was diagnosed recently.

He said "I'm very proud of the picture. My doctors are optimistic, I'm optimistic" adding "Life goes on. It's just another chapter."

The actor said he is looking forward to relaxing and watching sports while he recovers saying "[I] couldn't have picked a better time! Tennis has never been better. College football has just started. Got a Monday night game coming up with the Jets. Sports are really good."

The actor’s wife, Catherine Zeta Jones, recently commented in People Magazine on her husband’s illness saying she was furious with doctors for failing to make a diagnosis sooner.

She said "It makes me furious they didn't detect it earlier. He sought every option and nothing was found." After he was diagnosed with cancer the actress revealed "It wasn't a huge shock. I knew something was up. He knew something was up."
