Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has spoken about her anger over doctors’ failure to diagnose her husband’s cancer earlier.
The actress spoke to People magazine about the fact that Michael Douglas had been complaining for some time about pain in his throat and ear but that it was only three weeks ago that doctors confirmed that he has a tumour under his tongue the size of a walnut.
She said "It makes me furious they didn't detect it earlier. He sought every option and nothing was found." After he was diagnosed with cancer the actress revealed "It wasn't a huge shock. I knew something was up. He knew something was up."
The actor is currently undergoing an intensive eight week course of chemotherapy and radiation.
Earlier this week in an interview on the David Letterman show he revealed that the cancer has spread to his neck and other parts of his head. He confirmed to the host that his cancer was at stage four. He added "I'm treating this as a curable disease. It's a fight. I'll beat this."
He also said doctors had given him an 80% chance of survival.
