Powles - Feels "honoured" to have a major storyline in the soap

'Emmerdale' star Sophie Powles has said she feels "lucky and very honoured" to have been given such a big storyline on the show.

Speaking to RTÉ TEN, the actress, who plays Holly Barton in the soap, said of her current drug addiction storyline: "I feel really lucky, firstly, to be given the storyline."

"It's the first 'Emmerdale' have touched on that kind of thing. You know, it happens out there. There's people depending on drugs and people affected by drugs."

"It's important to show that it can happen to anybody. Holly's not a stereotype. She's not the kind of girl you would say was going to do it but she does."

"She's got addicted, she's got hooked and now she's on a downward spiral. So I think it's good that we show that there's no stereotype for the kind of person who could get into drugs."

Speaking about getting a major storyline on the show, she said: "I just feel very lucky and very honoured to be given such a huge opportunity."
