Simon Cowell has said that he would like to call a halt to the bickering between 'The X Factor' judges.
Cowell said: "Sometimes we've gotten into the habit - and obviously I'm partly responsible for this - of judges' personalities being talked about more than the contestants."
Explaining the role of the judges, he said: "The judges are there for their opinions, so for me the most important criteria for sitting on a judging panel is, do you actually know what you are talking about?"
'The X Factor' is due to return to television screens on Saturday 21 August.
