It has been confirmed that doctors have discovered that actor Michael Douglas has a tumour in his throat. A representative for the 65-year-old Oscar-winner confirmed the news to People magazine yesterday.

Doctors expect the star of 'Wall Street' to make a full recovery and he is set to undergo eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy.
A statement from the star said "I am very optimistic."

The representative did not comment further on the type of cancer or say when treatment would begin.

Douglas is married to Welsh actress, Catherine Zeta Jones, and they have two children together. He also has an older son, Cameron, with his first wife. Cameron was jailed for five years in April for drug offences.

Oliver Stone’s sequel 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps', which sees the return of Douglas in the role of Gordon Gekko, is due for release next month.
