The Rovers Return is set for some serious competition when one of the characters in 'Coronation Street' opens a rival bar.

Warning: spoiler alert!

The Sun reports that Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) will sell his stake in Underworld to Carla Connor for £100,000 and open a wine bar in Turner's Joinery on Coronation Street, much to the annoyance of Rovers landlady Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard).

A source told the paper: "The Joinery will really give the Rovers Return cause to worry.

"Nick taunts Liz about her pub being out of date, and it hurts, because the comments hit on a few home truths.

"They will lose a lot of the younger, cooler crowds."

There is speculation that the opening of the bar could also lead to problems in Leanne Battersby's (Jane Danson) relationship with fiancé Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne).

Leanne had plans to open a bar last year but decided against it as she was helping Peter with his drinking problem.

But ex-husband Nick offers her the job of bar manager, meaning the two of them would be spending a lot more time together.
