Seoige - Can't wait to get to work on Daybreak

Television presenter Gráinne Seoige has said that she is very excited about her new role as Features Editor on ITV's 'Daybreak'.

Speaking at the launch of 'The All Ireland Talent Show' yesterday, she expressed her delight at being able to work both in Ireland and in the UK.

Seoige said: "I'm in, I suppose, a very privileged position to be able to work with RTÉ and ITV as well and I'm relishing it actually."

"I really feel very, very fortunate... to be part of an amazing show like 'The All Ireland Talent Show' and the start of something new in British broadcasting as well. I'm really happy."

"It's great to be able to do different roles because television presenters are multi-faceted people and I've been lucky enough to work in news, current affairs, sports, light entertainment, chat shows as well, so this is a brilliant way to spread your wings and keep exercising all those different broadcasting muscles."

Speaking about her new role at 'Daybreak', she said: "It involves an awful lot of freedom actually."

"I'm delighted with the role in that way... I'll be out and about, I'll be on the sofa... my very first assignment will take me abroad, so it's a really exciting time for me."

When asked if she had met 'Daybreak' presenters Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley yet, she said: "I haven't met Adrian. I met Christine, years ago actually, when she was on 'Strictly'. I did a piece for 'Seoige' behind-the-scenes and I met her then. I thought she was a lovely girl... I'm delighted to be working with her."

Referring to the team on 'Daybreak', she said: "They've made me feel so welcome. It's great. They're really, really nice people."

"To be there when something is being created it's a great bonding thing actually for a team because you go through this experience of the build-up and hype... you really get very close as a team so I'm really looking forward to that."

She also said of her television career: "The brilliant thing that I have had in my career to date is an awful lot of fresh starts and new things happening and it's great to be going in with a brand new team. I can't wait. I think it's going to be really exciting."
