It has been reported that Cheryl Cole spent two hours in intensive care after being diagnosed with malaria.
The Daily Mirror says she was taken to the emergency unit at the Cromwell Hospital in west London before being transferred to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in central London.
The 27-year-old contracted the disease while visiting Tanzania with friend Derek Hough and collapsed during a photoshoot on Saturday.
She will not appear in the last of the current series of 'X Factor' auditions in Manchester at the weekend but is expected to recover within two weeks.
A spokesperson for the show said: "The Manchester auditions will go ahead as scheduled, but Cheryl is unfortunately not able to attend. Simon and Louis will be joined by Nicole Scherzinger."
Scherzinger is standing in for judge Dannii Minogue, who has just welcomed her first baby in Australia.
