'Coronation Street' actor Antony Cotton was among the guests of British Prime Minister David Cameron at a reception for members of the gay community at 10 Downing Street this week.

The Daily Mail reports former 'Coronation Street' star Amanda Barrie, BBC newsreader Jane Hill, singer Duncan James and members of the British armed forces also attended the event.

Cotton, who plays Sean Tully, attended the event in his capacity as an ambassador for the Albert Kennedy Trust, which helps homeless gay teenagers.

He said of the trust: "It was set up after a young boy died in Manchester.

"He was homeless and was being chased by what you would now call homophobic bullies and he was chased to the top of a car park and jumped off.

"The trust helps young people all over the country who are homeless after coming out."
