Ireland's Niamh Kavanagh was one of 10 acts to qualify for the Eurovision Song Contest Final in Oslo last night.

It is the first time Ireland has qualified for the final in four years.

Kavanagh, singing 'It's for You', will be the 10th performer in Saturday's final, which will be broadcast live on RTÉ One and RTÉ Radio 1 from 8pm.

Speaking after her qualification Kavanagh, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993, said waiting to hear the names of the countries that had qualified was as nerve-wracking as waiting for the last vote when she won the Eurovision.

"I thought the audience were magnificent with all of the acts," said the singer.

The other nine countries that qualified from Thursday night's second semi-final are: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Denmark, Georgia, Israel, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine.

Bookies have made Azerbaijan the favourites to win the competition, but odds on an Irish win have been shortened.
