Hundreds of mourners have attended the funeral of RTÉ broadcaster Gerry Ryan in Dublin

Family, friends and members of the entertainment and media worlds packed the Church of St John the Baptist in Clontarf to pay their last respects.

The mass was held in the same church where Gerry Ryan was baptised, where he married his wife Morah, where their five children were christened and where his family held the funerals of his father and mother.

President Mary McAleese, members of Westlife, Louis Walsh, Twink, Brendan Grace and Ryan's broadcasting colleagues Marian Finucane, Ryan Tubridy, Joe Duffy, Pat Kenny and Gráinne Seoige attended the funeral mass.

Fr Brian Darcy, who knew Gerry Ryan for more than 30 years, in his homily said no one who ever knew Gerry would let his memory die.

Prayers of the faithful were written and read by Gerry Ryan's children Babs, Elliott and Bonnie, and his godchild Lucas.

The String Quartet from the National Symphony Orchestra, Dublin Gospel Choir and Westlife were among those to sing and play music during the mass.

Eulogies will delivered by Gerry's brother Manno and his two eldest children, Lottie and Rex.

Gerry's wife Morah paid a moving tribute to their children and extended her sympaties to his partner Melanie.

After the Mass, his coffin was taken to Dardistown Cemetery, where he was buried alongside his parents.
