Scottish performer Drew Millar has become the first contestant to be voted off 'Fame: The Musical', during the live shows.

The 22-year-old former medical student was sent home after he found himself in the bottom two alongside 20-year-old Dubliner Sarah O'Connor, as a result of the public vote.

The judges then chose to save Sarah, who is studying musical theatre in London, sending Drew home.

Speaking afterwards, Drew said: "It's been an amazing experience and I'm so grateful to have gotten through to this stage of the competition."

"I don't think anyone deserved to go tonight as this stage was full of amazing talent, but unfortunately someone had to."

Judge Erica Gimpel, who starred as Coco Hernandez in the television series 'Fame', said: “This was a really difficult decision."

"It was the first time I’d seen the finalists perform and I think the standard was very high."

"It’s hard to leave the show at this early stage, but I really believe that this is just the beginning for Drew and I wish him all the very best".
