It is reported that singer Cheryl Cole's friend, professional dancer Derek Hough, has been asked to join the new series of the BBC's 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
Hough is currently appearing in the US version of 'Strictly Come Dancing', 'Dancing with the Stars', where he is partnered with Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger.
An unnamed source told The Sun: "He has been asked to join 'Strictly' and he's incredibly keen to do so.
"It means missing the next season of the US show but it would give him more time with Cheryl."
The source added that Hough was keen to compete against Cole in the ratings war involving 'Strictly Come Dancing' and her ITV show 'The X Factor'.
"Derek thinks it will be fun to take Cheryl on," said the source. "She's won [the ratings war] with 'The X Factor' two years running, now he wants to win."
Hough appeared in the video for Cole's song 'Parachutes' and her 'Cheryl Cole's Night In' TV special. He also danced with the singer when she performed on 'Dancing with the Stars'.
