More details have emerged of 'Coronation Street's prison plot involving Tracy Barlow. Warning:Spoiler Alert

The schemer, played by Kate Ford, is given the task of extracting a murder confession from Gail McIntyre (Helen Worth) in exchange for early release from jail.

According to the Sun, she tells police that Gail battered husband Joe McIntyre (Reece Dinsdale) to death with a rolling pin.

Having found herself in a cell with Tracy, oblivious Gail opens up about her last moments in the Lakes with Joe, who died after being knocked out by a sail on his boat.

She explains how she wanted to stop her awful cook of a husband from baking his potato pie, so she hid the pin on top of a wardrobe in their cottage.

Conniving Tracy twists the story for police, directing them to the "murder weapon" and its hiding place, and when they find it they think Gail is to blame for the death.

The scenes are expected to air in May.
