Penélope Cruz is in negotiations to star opposite Johnny Depp in the fourth film in the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' series, '...On Stranger Tides'.
The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog says that Cruz's character could be Captain Jack Sparrow's (Depp) "foil and equal in many ways".
'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' is due for release on 20 May, 2011, with shooting taking place in Hawaii this summer.
The film would reunite Cruz with 'Nine' director Rob Marshall.
