One of 'Coronation Street's most notorious villains is feeling surprisingly nervous about her return to the cobbles.

According to Hello Magazine Kate Ford, who plays Tracy Barlow, will return to the soap in the Spring.

Tracy was jailed for 15 years in 2007 for murdering boyfriend Charlie Stubbs but she will be back on the Street when her beloved gran, Blanche Hunt, is laid to rest.

Ford revealed her character will also re-appear for a longer stint in the soap later in the year.

Despite spending five years on the cobbles, Ford, 32, said she was worried about her return: "I was really nervous at first.

"I had this noise in my throat like a croak because my mouth was really dry. The sound guy was like, 'I can hear that'. It was really loud."

Ford left Weatherfield in April 2007, but is still recognised as Tracy. The star added: "When I left, I said: 'Please don't kill me off!'

"I hoped I would return even though it was my decision to leave.

"People do remember the storyline even now. I still get binmen shouting 'Hello Tracy!' when they see me. I wanted people to see Tracy as messed-up, not evil."

The actress, who has a 19-month-old son called Otis, said: "I left 'Coronation Street' to do lots of different things, then within a few months I found out I was pregnant so my life went in another direction."

Her return follows the death of actress Maggie Jones who played her on-screen gran.

Kate said: "I knew her really well. She was a brilliant person, really feisty with a naughty sense of humour."
