'Avatar' was the big winner at the Golden Globe Awards in California last night.

The James Cameron film took the award for Best Film Drama, with Cameron winning Best Director.

Jeff Bridges was named Best Actor in a Drama for 'Crazy Heart', while Sandra Bullock won Best Actress for 'The Blind Side'.

The award for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical went to Meryl Streep for 'Julie & Julia' and Robert Downey Jr was named Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical for 'Sherlock Holmes'.

'The Hangover' was named Best Comedy or Musical.

The award for Best Supporting Actor went to Christoph Waltz for 'Inglourious Basterds', with Mo'Nique named Best Supporting Actress for 'Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire'.

'Up' was named Best Animated Film and Germany's 'The White Ribbon' won the award for Best Foreign Language Film.

Jason Reitman and Sheldon Turner won the Best Screenplay award for 'Up in the Air'.

The award for Best Original Score went to Michael Giacchin for 'Up', while T Bone Burnett and Ryan Bingham won Best Original Song for 'The Weary Kind' from 'Crazy Heart'.
