Jude Law has revealed that he was very keen to play the reinvented Dr Watson in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes.
The British actor said that he hoped he brought something different to the new adaptation, reports The Press Association.
Law said: "When I was asked to get involved, Robert (Downey Jr) was already set as Sherlock and Guy was directing and I knew from then that it was going to be a different take on the older films of Sherlock Holmes.
"They weren't asking me to put on two stone and fool around and put my foot in waste paper baskets, they were asking me to play Watson with a bit more edge."
