Russell Brand has spoken out about the Andrew Sachs prank calls scandal and said that things had "worked out really well."

Russell left his BBC 2 Radio show after the broadcast of the prank calls he made with Jonathan Ross. Speaking to New magazine he said he would have done nothing differently.

The incident occurred last October and sparked over 40,000 complaints leading to a clampdown on the BBC’s compliance rules.

The 34-year-old is currently developing a re-make of the Dudley Moore comedy 'Arthur' and is dating 25-year-old singer Katy Petty.

Brand told the magazine the situation might have turned out differently if Sachs had answered his calls - adding: "It isn't that hard to pick up a phone."

He continued: "I would have done nothing differently. I think it worked out really well. I am really happy with what I am doing now - happy in my personal life and happy with my professional life."

Asked if he and Ross laughed about the episode now, Brand said: "We don't laugh about it, no. We have moved on. We don't really talk about it."
