Former Sex Pistols star John Lydon has praised the X Factor's John and Edward for being so bad they made other acts "shine".
The punk idol said the pair who left the show last weekend were "just ridiculous".
However speaking to Absolute Radio he said there was a place for the band in the music scene.

"You must have as many awful acts out there as possible, because that's the only way you can shine like a diamond in the mudpack," he said. "So I'm all for the competition, me."
Lydon has recently reformed his band Public Image Limited for a series of gigs.
