RTÉ Television has announced that it will not be re-commissioning medical drama 'The Clinic' next year.

Jane Gogan, Commissioning Editor, RTÉ TV Drama said, “I would like to pay tribute to all of the cast and crew who worked on the series over seven successful seasons and want to sincerely thank them for all of their hard work."

"'The Clinic' has featured and developed some fantastic talent both on and off-screen and RTÉ looks forward to working with a range of cast and crew across other projects in the future."

"I would also like to thank the production company Parallel Films and look forward to continuing our fruitful relationship.”

"RTÉ is justly proud of all seven series of 'The Clinic' but we believe that it is important to constantly review and innovate to ensure that we are delivering the best possible choice, variety and quality to our audience."

"I look forward to bringing a range of new drama to the Irish public in 2010 and beyond."

Mary Callery, Executive Producer, Parallel Films said, “We are so proud of 'The Clinic' and the critical and popular acclaim it has achieved over the years – none of which would have been possible without the efforts of the hugely talented cast and the expertise of our very hard working crew."

"We thank the viewers for their loyal support and assure them that Parallel Films will continue to create and produce fresh and original television drama for their future enjoyment."

Steve Carson, Director of Programmes, RTÉ TV said, “As Ireland’s Public Service Broadcaster, RTÉ is committed to continuing to invest in quality Irish drama for Irish audiences and our commitment to deliver an increase in hours of home-produced drama in 2010 is testament to this."
