'Coronation Street's Rosie Webster is set to leave her family in shock in the New Year when she announces a controversial career change. Warning: Spoiler alert!

According to The Sun, Rosie, played by Helen Flanagan, will undergo a breast augmentation in the new year, as mum Sally Webster battles breast cancer

Rosie aims to become a glamour model and promotions girl after losing all her money to factory rogue Luke Strong (Craig Kelly).

However the news is set to devastate Sally (played by Sally Whittaker) who is due to tell her family she needs a lumpectomy to remove a malignant tumour on Christmas Day.

Rosie's plan is rumbled by her sister Sophie (Brooke Vincent) who realises something is going on when Rosie starts checking the post each morning so that no one sees the letters from the clinic.

Sophie then finds a letter from a company called 'Desire Solutions' and begins to suspect Rosie must be having Botox treatment or liposuction.

However she is shocked when Rosie admits that she's having a breast augmentation so that it will enhance her career prospects.

Rosie even plans to sell her beloved sports car to pay for the operation, however her boss at the agency she works for steps in to foot the bill - telling her he considers the money an investment in 'their' future.

An insider told TV Biz: "The bosses are well aware of the controversy this storyline will cause.

"But they've researched all the implications and also looked at how it may affect teenage girl viewers and are determined to go ahead and show it - warts and all."
