'Coronation Street' star Liz Dawn has revealed the methods she used to help her remember her lines while filming the soap.

Dawn, who retired from playing Vera Duckworth due to emphysema, told the Press Association that worrying about her condition caused her stress when trying to memorise her scripts.

When asked how her life had changed, she replied: "I don't have the stress of having to learn lines."

She continued: "The crew helped me - especially the cameramen. I used to have my lines on the Duckworths' table, lines in Roy's cafe, in the frying pan - lines all over, really. I think half of that was worrying about my breathing."

The 70-year-old said of her life since leaving the soap: "I went on four cruises last year, and I've just been on my third one (this year). The sea air does you good. I wish everybody who's got what I've got could go and get that fresh air."
