Books by Irish authors are among the 156 novels nominated for the 2010 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award.

Costa Prize winner Sebastian Barry is nominated for 'The Secret Scripture', while Joseph O'Neill is nominated for 'Netherland'.

O'Neill's novel was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 2008 and Barry's was shortlisted.

Antrim-born Deirdre Madden, an Orange Prize nominee this year, makes the IMPAC list for her book 'Molly Fox's Birthday', while Belfast-born David Park is nominated for 'The Truth Commissioner'.

The books on the IMPAC list were nominated by 163 libraries in 123 cities and 43 countries worldwide and can be viewed at: www.impacdublinaward.ie. RTÉ is not responsible for the content of external websites.

Barry's book was nominated by libraries in Ireland, the UK, the Czech Republic, South Africa and the US.

O'Neill's book was nominated by libraries in Ireland, Austria, South Africa and the US.

The shortlist will be announced on 14 April 2010, with the winner named on 17 June.

The €100,000 award is the world's most valuable literary prize for a single work of fiction published in English.
