Canadian singer Michael Bublé has said that he almost didn’t get together with his girlfriend because she thought he was gay when they first met.
Bublé has been dating the Argentinian actress Luisana Lopilato since November of last year after he met her at one of his concerts. However the language barrier between the two of them caused some initial problems after he ended up speaking to her male companion who spoke English.
He told The Sun "I don't speak Spanish and she had no English. But the guy did so I just spoke to him. I was a bit nervous because of how beautiful she was. I later found out she was on the phone to her mother the whole time saying, 'Bublé's gay. He's hitting on my friend'."
The 34-year-old singer continued: "I get the feeling some people - perhaps her fans - don't like me. The media there have said terrible things about me." Lopilato is one of the biggest film stars in South America.
Bublé has previously dated British actress Emily Blunt.
The singer wowed the audience on 'X Factor' on Sunday night when he performed on the result show.
