U2 will play in front of Berlin's Brandenburg Gate as part of the 16th MTV Europe Music Awards on 5 November.
The band's performance will be a prelude to the 'Fall of the Wall' celebrations in Berlin, marking the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The MTV Europe Music Awards take place on the night at the 02 World in Berlin.
Commenting, U2's manager Paul McGuinness said: "It'll be an exciting spot to be in, 20 years almost to the day since the wall came down. Should be fun."
