Sisters Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell are to get the shock of their lives in a new 'EastEnders' storyline.
Warning: Spoiler Alert!
The Press Association reports that Jill Gascoine, the star of 'CATS Eyes' and 'The Gentle Touch', has been cast in the role of their long-lost mother Glenda, who arrives in Albert Square unannounced.
Glenda walked out on Ronnie (Samantha Womack), Roxy (Rita Simons) and husband Archie (Larry Lamb) when the girls were in their early teens.
The sisters will be stunned that their nervous mother is now a confident, self-made woman.
Commenting on Gascoine's casting, 'EastEnders' executive producer Diederick Santer said: "I'm so looking forward to welcoming the hugely talented Jill to 'EastEnders'.
"I have a very clear memory of watching 'CATS Eyes' every Friday night, while - to the fury of my mother - munching my way through an entire packet of Jaffa Cakes.
"Jill's character, Maggie Forbes, was always my favourite - tough, glamorous, and exciting - perfect qualities for Glenda Mitchell."
