Teenage star Pixie Lott has been named Best New Act for UK and Ireland ahead of the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs).
The singer, from Bromley in South East London, beat other artists such as Florence and the Machine, La Roux, The Saturdays and Tinchy Stryder to win the award.
She will now go forward to face 21 other acts from the rest of the continent for the best European Act category when the awards ceremony takes place next month.
