A disastrous billboard campaign spelled the end for Dubliner Donal Proctor on last night's 'The Apprentice'.
The engineer, from Killiney, became the second person to be fired from the TV3 show after he was accused of being "all talk and no action".
But Donal (30) said that tensions are particularly high this year, which will make for interesting viewing.
He said: "The guys are really chomping at the bit. They are really hungry and that is obvious. "
For the second week running, the girls' team, Platinum, left the guys in the shade when they won a pitch for Samsung Jet business mobile phone.
According to The Evening Herald, Donal has since had success in a new job in an engineering company and is pushing ahead with plans for developing the hair salon he owns with his girlfriend.
But he said that the economic situation has made Bill become more demanding.
He said: "Bill was tough this year and he is taking no prisoners. I think Bill made the wrong decision. I could have been a brilliant apprentice."
Project manager Stephen Higgins, from Galway, presided over boys' team and was lucky to survive the chop in the boardroom,
Donal said. The pair were joined by professional trainer Breffny. "Obviously I'm disappointed and, in hindsight, I should have cross-examined Steve and questioned his mistakes," Donal said.
"I think Bill likes Steve and, in fairness to Breffny, I can't compete with him. Unfortunately I didn't go to Harvard, I haven't travelled around the world. But, no sour grapes, I'm dying to find out how it all turns out."
