Beyoncé was the big winner at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York last night, winning the top award.

The singer won Video of the Year for 'Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)'.

The video also won in the Best Choreography and Best Editing categories.

Lady GaGa and Green Day also won three awards each.

She was named Best New Artist, while her video for 'Paparazzi' won in the Best Special Effects and Art Direction categories.

Green Day's '21 Guns' was named Best Rock Video and also took the awards for Best Direction and Cinematography.

Taylor Swift won the Best Female Video award for 'You Belong with Me', while Britney Spears won Best Pop video for 'Womanizer'.

TI and Rihanna shared the Best Male Video award for his 'Live Your Life', while Eminem won Best Hip Hop Video for 'We Made You'.

The Breakthrough Video (online) award went to Matt & Kim for 'Lessons Learned', while the Best Video (That Should Have Won a Moonman) award went to the Beastie Boys for 'Sabotage'.
