Maura Tierney has decided to leave her new drama series 'Parenthood' as her treatment for breast cancer continues.
Production on 'Parenthood' had been postponed until November in order to give 44-year-old Tierney the time to receive treatment.
Her role will now be recast.
Reuters reports that a spokesperson for the former 'ER' star said: "Ms Tierney and her doctors remain confident that the outcome of her treatments will be positive.
"She is deeply disappointed that she will not be able to rejoin such a highly respected, talented, fun and funny group of actors and wishes to thank (writer/executive producer) Jason Katims and NBC for their patience and support."
