Kerry Rose Karen McGillycuddy is currently being listed as the favourite to be crowned 2009 Rose of Tralee.
According to Paddy Power, the 24-year-old national school teacher is now at odds of 3/1 to succeed the current rose Aoife Kelly.
Sharon McHugh of Paddy Power, said: “The last time Kerry won the Rose of Tralee was back in 1964 when the then Rose of Tralee Margaret O’Keefe was crowned winner."
"That was 45 years ago, so there’s a lot of shrewd Kerry men hoping Karen can do the business and bring the crown back home!"
London Rose Charmaine Kenny is second favourite at odds of 5/1 and Kilkenny Rose Stephanie O'Dwyer is third favourite at odds of 6/1.
