'Home and Away' star Todd Lasance has said that he feels "sad" about the departure of his co-star Jess Tovey.

According to the Herald Sun, the 24-year-old actor, who plays Aden Jefferies in the soap, said that he will miss the character of Belle in the show.

Lasance said of his co-star: "Jess is one of the closest girl friends I have now. I feel so fortunate that I've had such an incredible actress to work opposite."

"The reason I think the Aden-Belle storyline has developed is because of that chemistry."

"I feel so comfortable with Jess and I think that comes across on screen."

The actor said: "Jess had been in the show for three years and felt she'd reached a creative boundary. She'd experienced so much as Belle that she needed to branch out a bit."

"She pulled me aside at work one day and said 'I've decided to leave'. It was sad for me but also exciting because she has so much potential."

Belle is due to be written out of 'Home and Away' later this year.
