Gail Platt's eldest son, Nick Tilsley is set to return to 'Coronation Street' however a new actor will take over the role from Adam Rickitt.
Rickitt set hearts fluttering on and off screen when he played Gail Platt's eldest son.
Floppy-haired Nick first tied the knot with Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), before beginning a relationship with Maria Sutherland (Samia Smith).
It will be the third time the role has been cast; Warren Jackson played the original Nick from 1981 before Adam took over in 1997.
According to The Sun a 'Coronation Street' spokesperson said: "It will be great to see the return of Nick.
"He has so many links with the Street - both with his family and the various women he has had relationships with.
"It will be interesting to see how Leanne and Maria react to him." Gail's other son David never got on with his half-brother and Corrie producers have promised fireworks between the pair.
Rickett, 31, was in and out of the show during his seven-year spell as Nick, he left in 1999 to release an album but was soon dropped from his record company and returned in 2003.
His most famous storyline came that year when he and Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) shared the first gay clinch on the Street.
Rickett finally left in 2004 after Nick was offered a job in Nottingham.
The actor is currently in New Zealand starring in the soap 'Shortland Street'.
Nick is set to return to 'Coronation Street' before Christmas.
