RTÉ One will begin repeating the first series of the award-winning drama 'Pure Mule' on Sunday.

First screened in 2005, 'Pure Mule' is set in a midlands market town and focuses on the weekend of an individual character from a Friday until a Monday morning.

The first episode of the first series airs on RTÉ One on Sunday, 26 July at 10.50pm.

In the autumn, a new, two-part 'Pure Mule' special will be screened on RTÉ Television.

Written by Eugene O'Brien, directed by Declan Recks and produced by Accomplice Television, 'Pure Mule: The Last Weekend' has been shooting in and around Birr, Co Offaly.

'The Last Weekend' finds Scobie (Garrett Lombard) preparing to leave for Australia, Jennifer (Charlene McKenna) back home for a family funeral and the whole town trying to come to terms with the recession.

The cast also includes Dawn Bradfield, Simone Kirby, Gail Fitzpatrick, Orla Fitzgerald and Liam Carney.
