Singer Lily Allen has hit out at those who have criticised her for losing weight, saying she decided to get in shape to make herself feel better, not to improve her career prospects.
In an interview with Elle magazine she said: "People have had a go at me for suddenly deserting the feminist cause because I went to the gym. I'm really lazy. I like sitting or lying down.
"I don't care about endorphins or looking better. Actually, that last bit is a lie. I do want to look better, but I'm not going to torture myself about it. I just don't think girls or women should hate themselves for not living up to the ideal."
The 24-year-old star also said that she prefers wearing casual clothes, and only gets dressy items out of the wardrobe for special occasions.
When asked how she decides to wear, Allen said "There are generally three factors - what's clean? What's going to make me feel fat and ugly? How many photographers are there outside my house? Usually I'll just wear trousers and a T-shirt or a dress for meetings. I've only worn my £6,000 Prada dress three times so far."
