Nick Bateman has pulled out of his planned return to the 'Big Brother' house because he is not being paid.
As part of celebrations to mark the 10th series, Bateman was to have faced an assault course and tested his fitness against another housemate.
Bateman said: "They said they were not going to pay me. I don't think I should take a day out for no money. Everyone was looking forward to me coming back into it."
The travel writer said that he did not want to take part in an assault course and when asked why replied: "I'm not as fit. Why would I do something I can't do on television for no money?"
Bateman will be replaced by the winner of the first series, Craig Phillips.
Other housemates set to appear on the show this week include Brian Belo, Nikki Grahame and Rex Newmark.
A statement issued by 'Big Brother' said that all ex-housemates were appearing unpaid and a donation was being made instead to the Jade Goody Foundation.
Yesterday in the 'Big Brother House' Siavash and Sophie were told that they would face eviction this Friday because of swearing.
