Michael Jackson's coffin is reportedly set to take centre stage at his public memorial today in Los Angeles.
Fans will be able to catch a glimpse of the King of Pop’s gold-plated £18,000 coffin when it goes on public display at the Staples Centre sports arena, according to celebrity gossip website TMZ.com.
Sky News say an LA police chief has confirmed the coffin will be at the memorial.
His body will be transported from the Forest Lawns cemetery in Hollywood Hills where the Jackson family will hold a private service.
The singer’s eldest children Prince Michael, 12, and Paris, 11, will attend the ceremony alongside his parents Joe and Katherine and his brothers and sisters, reports said.
Thousands are gathering at the Staples Centre in anticipation of the memorial event which kicks off at about 1pm LA time (6pm GMT).
The Michael Jackson memorial service will be screened on RTÉ Two this evening.
