Film studio Columbia Pictures has decided not to put Brad Pitt's new film 'Moneyball' into production, just days before shooting was due to begin.
The Hollywood Reporter cites unnamed sources as saying that Columbia Pictures was not happy with the script for the Steven Soderbergh-directed baseball drama, which had changed considerably since receiving the green light.
'Moneyball' is based on Michael Lewis' non-fiction book about the Oakland Athletics baseball team, and director Soderbergh worked on the screenplay with Steven Zaillian ('Schindler's List').
The trade daily says that it is now possible that another studio could decide to make the film or Columbia Pictures and Soderbergh could try to reach agreement on a way forward.
