Lindsay Lohan - mother dismisses claims

The mother of actress Lindsay Lohan has dismissed media reports that her daughter was involved in the theft of some jewellery after a photoshoot for Elle magazine last week.

Earrings and a necklace worth £250,000 were loaned by Dior to Elle for the shoot.

Speaking to People, Dina Lohan said the claim is "defamatory, false and unfair". She added "Lindsay is one of some 20 people at the shoot who are being questioned by police and has never been called a suspect."

She also said that the magazine has made a public statement backing Lindsay.

An Elle spokesperson said: "Items of jewellery went missing from an Elle photoshoot two weeks ago and the matter is now being investigated by the police. Elle has no reason to believe that Miss Lohan was in any way responsible and has no further comment to make."
