The format of 'The X Factor' is reportedly set to change slightly this year, with hopefuls auditioning in front of a studio audience as well as the judging panel.

According to The Sun, the show's bosses have decided to involve the public at an early stage following the success of the audience element in 'Britain's Got Talent'.

Producers Talkback Thames/Syco have reportedly asked members of the public to come forward to watch next Monday's auditions in London.

However, the judging panel, made up of Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue, will still make the final decision on the acts.

A show source reportedly said: "Everybody loves the audition episodes - and what better way to stir things up than for the hopefuls to have a very public tryout."

“It’s all about evolving the show to make it bigger and better than ever.”
