Television presenter Ryan Tubridy has been reflecting on his five years hosting 'Tubridy Tonight'.

As the final season draws to a close, the presenter said: "If it’s possible to have a heavy heart and a spring in your step at the same time, then I have it."

"Five unforgettable years working with extraordinary colleagues and interviewing fascinating people, all the while laughing and acting like an eejit."

"It’s been quite the odyssey and I hate to see it end. I felt at home here on a Saturday night, surrounded by my friends in the Camembert Quartet and the backroom team who made it all happen on a weekly basis."

"I’ve said before that I was happy presenting 'Tubridy Tonight' and it’s true but an opportunity has knocked and so I head into the sunset to face a new challenge in September."

"I will always be grateful to the viewers for watching and the brave/foolish studio audience for letting me annoy them week in, week out. Goodnight and good luck."

Watch 'Tubridy Tonight' at 9.45pm on RTÉ One this Saturday.
