It has been confirmed that 'Gossip Girl' actor Chace Crawford is set to star in the lead role of the remake of 'Footloose'.
Paramount Pictures has confirmed that he steps into the role of Ren McCormack, a rebellious teenager dancer, which was played by Kevin Bacon in the original 1984 musical.
'High School Musical' star Zac Efron has been set to play the role but dropped out. Speaking to EW.com Efron said the reason he dropped out was he had concerns over type-casting as the "musical guy".
Kenny Ortega is set to direct the remake which begins shooting early next year.
