Former 'Desperate Housewives' star Nicollette Sheridan has said the show is losing its appeal. Sheridan’s character, Edie Britt, recently died on the series after featuring on Wisteria Lane for five years.
The actress told TV Guide: "When the show started it was such a different beast. It was exciting and dangerous and funny and edgy and bizarre. It started feeling a little complacent, and that was very frustrating."
She also criticised the show’s creator Marc Cherry for his development of her character. "When you have a jewel, why not polish it and put it out there for all to see?"
She continued: "I think whoever Edie represented in Marc's life was somebody he didn't like. And he had a very difficult time distinguishing between fact and fiction."
Cherry has said that there was no where else for Sheridan’s character to go and he has also said that he was under pressure from the ABC network to cut the show’s costs.
Speaking about a possible replacement on Wisteria Lane for Sheridan Cherry said: "We will find a new kind of sexiness coming through Wisteria Lane. What I won't do is cast another forty-something sexy blonde. Nicollette Sheridan performed the aging neighbourhood tramp better than anyone has ever done before."
