Anthea Turner's husband Grant Bovey has been tipped by 'Hell’s Kitchen' chef Marco Pierre White as "the star of the show".

Diners gave the celebrity contestants an average of seven out of 10 for their first restaurant service on Easter Sunday night but the trainee chefs were more concerned about White's feedback.

The Michelin-starred chef told Bovey: "Grant, you were the star of the show. Every piece of fish you sent me was cooked perfectly." He also praised Bovey's communication skills in the kitchen, adding: "It means I can trust you and put more work on you so I have no complaints."

A chuffed Bovey told the chef: "I enjoyed it, Marco. It was tough but it was enjoyably tough."

Turner was told she was "very efficient" but White thought she could do better.

Several of the celebrities have already admitted they are frightened of White who used to be well known for his fiery temper.

Actor and comedian Adrian Edmondson said before meeting White his palms started sweating for the first time since he married comedienne Jennifer Saunders 24 years ago. "The sweaty palm thing was an experience which hasn't happened to me since I think my wedding day which was over 20 years ago. So maybe Marco and I are going to get married - what a bizarre thought."

White told the celebrities to "be brave" as their first customers arrived for dinner. Despite a chaotic service, the eight trainee chefs fed all 60 diners.

But five incurred White's wrath when they headed to the living quarters for a rest without cleaning up after themselves.

Bovey, rapper Ms Dynamite (real name Niomi MacLean-Daley) and model Danielle Bux, the fiancee of football legend Gary Lineker, were the only ones who stayed to scrub the stoves.

Turner, Edmondson, Dynasty star Linda Evans, Shameless actor Jody Latham and former Liverpool goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar were called back to the kitchen and told to start cleaning.

Two of the celebrities – Evans and Edmondson – were told they would wait on tables during the next service.
