TV presenter Ben Fogle reportedly faces more chemotherapy after the tropical flesh-eating disease he contracted while filming in Peru last summer returned.

The 35-year-old has already endured months of treatment to eradicate the leishmaniasis bug which he caught after being bitten by a species of sand fly.

Fogle, who was filming the series Extreme Dreams when he contracted the disease, fears his 500-mile trek to the South Pole in December with Olympic rower James Cracknell may have proved a setback in his recovery.

He told The Telegraph: "I am facing six weeks of chemotherapy and going to hospital for several hours a day to be put on drips to treat this condition.

I am really frustrated as I am normally so active."
