Rapper Kanye West could reportedly face jail after being charged over an incident with a photographer at a US airport last year.

The Grammy-winning star is charged with misdemeanour battery, grand theft and vandalism after he was seen destroying a paparazzo's camera while travelling through Los Angeles International Airport on 11 September.

His arrest came just days after he performed at the MTV Video Music Awards.

A video shot by the gossip website TMZ appeared to show West, 31, smashing the flash of a photographer's camera while inside the airport terminal.

The rapper, whose road manager was also charged over the event, could face two and a half years in jail if convicted.

West's lawyer declined to comment on the charges.
