Wendy Richard, the actress who was known to millions worldwide for her roles in 'EastEnders' and 'Are You Being Served?', has died. She was 65.
The star, who had cancer, died in the Harley Street Clinic in London with her husband John Burns by her side.
Her agent Kevin Francis said: "She was incredibly brave and retained her sense of humour right to the end."
Wendy Richard played Pauline Fowler in 'EastEnders' for 21 years and starred as Miss Brahms in the 1970s comedy series 'Are You Being Served?'.
She had battled cancer previously in the mid-1990s and 2002 and found out last year that the cancer had returned and was terminal.
She married her long-term partner John Burns in London in October.
Paying tribute, Wendy Richard's 'EastEnders' co-star Todd Carty said: "Wendy was a fantastic lady, not only to work with as an actor but especially as a friend. She had a heart of gold and always fought my corner on-set and off.
"She was, without doubt, a British institution in name as well as talent and will always be remembered not just by me and my family but also by millions of fans who were entertained by her throughout her career.
"I will cherish her memory. It was a pleasure to work with her and, I must say, an honour to know her. May she rest in peace. Her memory and the entertainment she gave us all will never fade."
